Washington Blues Association Best R&B Recording Northwest Music Association Best R&B Group Northwest Music Association Reviews: |
| "L.J. would show up to the gigs in full make-up,
with her fierce acrylic nails flashing. All 300 pounds of that Creole skin sweating as she
mopped her beautiful face and neck with a bar towel. After her first song, the make-up was
a dim memory from sweating and mopping and singing her own style of Rhythm & Blues. It
made the blues seem more authentic. How the women blues singers must have looked back in
the twenties in the heat of the night, drinking homemade whiskey, while singing in old
converted chicken shacks. There they would stand under the southern skies, as the gold in
their teeth glittered from the stagelights burning with kerosene. That gospel sound that you know means Good News! And oh the Almighty God gave her a voice, the kind of voice you have to go to a "Southern Baptist" Church to hear. The kind of voice that tells you there is attitude with pain, the "just pull up your boot straps and everything will be okay" voice. And boy can she Sing! Kate Hart, producer and creator of Seattle Women from the Book: BLUES WOMEN "The Backstage was treated to 3 nights of scorching Rhythm and Blues. It was the perfect setting for the stormy Blues that poured out over the audience. If you get the opportunity to see this special woman, don't miss the chance, let me repeat, DONT miss the chance." Brian Humphrey, Ballard News and Tribune "In a flurry of flying fringe and Electric energy R&B kicked off the festival in a whirlwind of soulful sounds. An hour of diverse, hard-driving R&B that worked the stage and left the crowd shook up and Breathless! It was a knockout and the highpoint of our season. We enjoyed it immensely" King County Arts Commission " has dazzled audiences with her soulful renditions of blues, gospel and funky old tunes! Lonna Baldwin, Spokane Spokesman Review "Just about the most exciting and entertaining group in the Northwest. One terrific line-up!" Anne McGill " performed a foot stompin set full of energetic & soulful Blues tunes! American Music News " the show is always a tremendous draw and a knockout performance."
